Born in Sicily in 1974, she approached photography as a child, thanks to his father who had this passion and never missed an opportunity to portray her. Only later, however, she will have the opportunity to deepen his knowledge in the field. In fact, when she was heighteen, she moved to Rome to study Psychology and, upon graduation, she received her first camera as a gift. While continuing her studies in Psychotherapy, she also follows a 600-hour regional course in Photograpy, with relative internship at a photographic studio, earning a Professional Photographer Qualification. She begins with a passion for the landscape, passing through Street Photography and Reportage, to arrive at the Portrait of which follows various workshops with Italian and international Masters including Giovanni Gastel and Mustafà Sabbagh. She then continued his studies on Fashion Photography and Post Production at the prestigious Kaverdash Academy of Photography in Milan, where she further refined lighting, shooting and editing techniques. From 2013 she also deepens his knowledge on Infrared Photography and also buys two special modified machines with different spectrum: 720 and 590 Nm. In the same year she founded in Catania a Cultural and Artistic Association today called "Art'è Fotografia", of which she is the current President and where she teaches Photography for all ages and levels. In this way, after more than 10 years of teaching in the humanities, she combines her passion for teaching with photography. She has collaborated with various fashion brands and received awards in various photographic competitions and publications in online and printed magazines. She has also participated in various photographic collective exhibitions and played the role of judge in various competitions. She took part in various conferences, events and meetings throughout Italy concerning the photographic field (among the most important ones in 2013 at the Festival of Social Photography in Perugia on the theme “From visual perception to self-perception: Fotograf (f) iare per raccontare e raccontarsi"). In this location she reports on a phototherapy project carried out with 2 groups in Catania, in which she used the Scratch Technique of the image of the artist Bruno Taddei, together with the Phototherapy Techniques learned following the workshops of the Canadian phototherapist Judy Weiser.
In 2016 she published his first book "Io Non Muoio" (Publisher Bonanno) which tells, through images, the photographic and psychological path of 5 women, created in collaboration with the Humanitas oncology center in Catania.
On March 21st 2019 another personal Photo Exhibition travelling around Sicily, born from the "Noi Siamo Bellezza" project carried out in collaboration with the Association “Associazione famiglie persone Down”(Association of Family with people with Down syndrome).
From June 2022 another personal Photo exhibition, travelling around Italy, from the related project, “Nessuno cresce da solo”, a window on foster care in collaboration with the Association Metacometa APS.
Using a conceptual language, she is currently working on a series of photographic projects aimed at giving form and meaning to complex issues such as mental distress, anxiety, depression, dissociation, eating disorders, and trauma. Each shot stems from a process of listening and sharing, often in collaboration with the subjects themselves, who become co-authors of the images. In a world where mental health is still somewhat of a taboo, she believes that art must take responsibility for completely breaking the silence. Her images aim to be tools of awareness, vehicles of empathy, bridges between those experiencing distress and those who often fail to understand it.
